TapSounds hosts user-generated content

Every sound on TapSounds was uploaded by a member of the public. We do not create, commission, or pre-screen audio content before it is published. When a user uploads a sound, they confirm they have the rights to do so — but we rely on that declaration in good faith and cannot independently verify it for every file.

This means that at any given time, some sounds on the platform may have copyright, licensing, or content issues that have not yet been flagged to us. We remove content quickly when it is reported or when we detect problems, but we cannot guarantee that everything currently live on the platform is clear of issues.

Using sounds from TapSounds — know your rights

TapSounds is designed for personal listening and sharing — pressing play, sending a link to a friend, embedding a sound in a Discord message. For that kind of casual personal use, the platform works great.

However, if you want to use a sound in a YouTube video, a podcast, a live stream, a product, an advertisement, or any other commercial or monetised context, the fact that a sound is hosted on TapSounds does not give you permission to use it that way. Copyright in a sound belongs to its creator. You need to verify that the sound is either your own original work, licensed under terms that permit your intended use (such as Creative Commons), or cleared directly with the rights holder.

TapSounds is not liable for any copyright infringement that occurs as a result of a user downloading and re-using content from the platform without clearing the necessary rights.

Accuracy of content metadata

Sound titles, descriptions, tags, and category assignments are provided by uploaders. We do not verify their accuracy. A sound labelled as "original" may not be. A sound in the "royalty free" category may carry restrictions we are not aware of. Always check the source before relying on any metadata.

If you find content that is mislabelled, misleading, or misrepresented, please use the Report button on the sound's page to flag it. We review reports and correct or remove content as appropriate.

Voice clips, political content, and satire

TapSounds includes categories such as Voice Clips, Movies, TV Shows, and Politics. Content in these categories may include recordings of real people, satirical impersonations, edited or out-of-context clips, and fictional scenarios. None of this constitutes a statement of fact by TapSounds. We make no representations about the accuracy, context, or authenticity of such content.

Platform availability

We maintain TapSounds as reliably as we can, but we do not guarantee continuous, uninterrupted access to the platform. Sounds may be removed at any time — due to a copyright complaint, a moderation decision, a technical failure, or the uploader deleting their account — without advance notice. Do not rely on TapSounds as a permanent archive for audio files you need long-term.
